Make race day count

Thanks to the generosity of people like you, our Melbourne Cup Luncheon has been raising critical funds for Australian charities since 2004.

In 2018, we raised an impressive $300,000 for the Butterfly Foundation. The following year, we exceeded our expectations and raised more than $387,000 for Motor Neurone Disease Research. This year we aim to raise over $400,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities to support families who are dealing with adversity no parent should have to face. Because when life hangs in the balance, every moment is precious and being together means everything.

Will you help us get there?

past events

2019

Motor neuron disease (MND) is a terminal and rapidly progressing disease.  In 2019, our event raised $387,000 for Macquarie University’s Centre for Motor Neuron Disease Research. Their goal is to uncover new and effective treatments to improve the quality of life of people with this neurological disease.

2018

The Butterfly Foundation is a national charity for people affected by body image issues and eating disorders. In 2018, alongside our partners, we raised $300,000 for them, funding their Butterfly Body Bright Program’s pilot launch – because every child deserves to feel happy in their body.

2017

In 2017, we raised $302,000 for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation and the Charlie Teo Foundation. These two organisations are Australia’s leaders in brain cancer research, advocacy, and awareness. They both hope to find better treatments, and ultimately a cure for brain cancer.

2016

In 2016 we raised $201,000 for the Kids Cancer Project’s Re-engage program. With 96% of childhood cancer survivors developing comorbidities, their Re-engage program seeks to provide long term follow up care and support for survivors, no matter the distance.

2015

Giant Steps is Australia’s leading education centre for children and young adults with autism and their families. Their schools utilise many approaches to a child’s education, combining music, occupational and speech therapy, and adult autism services. In 2015 we raised $148,000 to help continue their programs.

GET TO KNOW RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES
GREATER WESTERN SYDNEY

When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness, it impacts the whole family. Amongst the uncertainty and stress, kids and parents are pulled away from school and work, face significant medical bills, and long commutes to specialist appointments. All at a time when being together matters most.

Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney (RMHC GWS) provides a range of programs to help reduce this pressure - and keep families together, and close to critical care. It offers learning programs, home cooked meals, essential supplies, and a comfortable and safe home away from home. All free of charge.

In 2019, FDC completed a new purpose-built home in Westmead for Ronald McDonald House.

It provides essential care and support for families, only steps away from The Children’s Hospital in Westmead. With six kitchens and 60 bedrooms, a communal lounge, dining areas and a fitness centre, the facilities are designed to help refresh exhausted parents and siblings of seriously ill children. In addition, Ronald McDonald family rooms located in Westmead Children’s Hospitals give carers the opportunity to have a cup of tea or a meal, take a shower, or simply rest.

So far, the new home has helped over 5,000 families stay together during what is arguably the most stressful time of their lives. Today, it continues to give families the most valuable gift of all – quality time together.
